Decorate with pumpkins!

First and foremost, if you do nothing else at all, you’ve got to at least put out a couple pumpkins.
They are the ultimate bright orange symbol for all things fall! This is always one of my first go-to ideas for last minute diy Halloween decor because it’s so easy and colorful. Here we made the most of pumpkins using them to decorate a reading nook with a festive pumpkin throw blanket just like this one! Festive pumpkin-themed cushions add a touch of playful color while oozing coziness into the space!
You can even simply grab a few fresh pumpkins in early fall and keep them outside where it’s cooler until you’re ready to carve ’em up and transform them into jack-o-lanterns! Pumpkins come in all forms, shapes, and sizes! A pumpkin pillow, cushion, or decorative lit pumpkin all make great quick and easy pops of Halloween color.
Posable Skeletons Make Great Last Minute DIY Halloween Decorations
Skeletons are a simple yet spooky touch! I really love the life-size posable skeletons, but smaller ones like the one pictured here will come with a loop on the head. You can hang them on a wall or from different areas on front porch outside as we’ve done here.
You could also easily pose him nicely by the mantle, console table, or stairs. Check out this selection of fun posable skeleton decorations if you’re looking to create fun last-minute Halloween decorations using skeletons like this! They’re perfect for hanging or posing anywhere.
A simple touch of orange twinkle lights tucked all around really brings them to life! This brings me to our next idea…
Decorate With Festive Halloween Lighting
These warm orange jack-o-lantern style pumpkin lights are probably one of my favorite last-minute Halloween decorations this year. They are super long and can cover a whole window area if desired. Here I’ve tucked them into garland that I used to create a fun Halloween table complete with fun skeleton party cups! You can see how to make the garland here! It’s another great inexpensive last minute Halloween decor idea anyone can create!
The pumpkin lights can be hung up on the mantle of a fireplace with some fall leaf garlands tucked around them. I just love these little lights because they add that super perfect warm and cozy touch indoors in just minutes. Plus, how cute are those little lit pumpkin faces?!
Decorate with Skulls
That’s right. Shakespeare’s Hamlet isn’t the only one who likes to walk around talking to skulls. I find that the Day of The Dead style ones are my favorite, but any color or kind will do!
Try sprucing up your Halloween table with the authentic colorful flare of Dia De Los Muertos Halloween decor!
I’ve even been known to tuck these guys into a long dough bowl with dried flowers and gourds for a festive yet rustic style.
Decorate with Witches and Ghouls
Witches are trending now more than ever in everything! TV shows, t-shirts, signs and decor, jewelry… The list goes on. It’s just not Halloween without witches y’all! This fun shadow witch decor adds a festive yet chic Halloween vibe to the house!
This fun little scary screaming green witch is a favorite for the front lawn. It has a sensor that triggers scary screams and led-eyes when someone walks by!
Hanging ghouls with flowing creepy gowns add that perfect touch of spook outside!
I like to add these to the front yard or even hang smaller ones from sconces or windows for a haunted look. I found these little hanging ghouls to be the perfect size!
Decorate With Spiders
Don’t forget our black and sometimes furry friends… Fun spiders with posable legs are now popping up everywhere! I see black, orange, purple, and even green posable spiders popping up everywhere these days! These are so much fun to attach outside or inside with the stretchy decorative spider webs.
The smaller spiders make great accents to add around if you have a large decorative spider. When using white webbing, I like to light the stretchy web part with little portable flickering black lights or a spotlight at night so it stands out even more!
set a halloween table
Set a spooky Halloween table with all your favorite spooky touches and colors! I feel like nothing gets me more in the spirit of the spooky season than this! As I set a table with a fun Halloween scene, (much like this spooky raven table) I can just feel the conversations around me unfolding!
Make A Festive DIY Hanging Halloween Garland
Wish your happy hauntings DIY style with this super easy homemade DIY Happy Halloween banner. All you need is craft paper, string, stick on letters, and a little ribbon. It’s a truly inexpensive, handmade, budget-friendly diy Halloween decoration that anyone can make. Perfect for hanging near a console table, or cocktail/punch serving area, or bar cart at your Halloween party gathering!
Decorate With Mini Pumpkin Buckets
Put out these cute little mini Halloween pumpkin buckets! They are the ultimate inexpensive last minute DIY halloween decorations! They are cheap and usually come in packs of 6 or 12. You can fill them with anything from chocolates to dried flowers to votives!
To turn these little mini pumpkins into DIY pumpkin lanterns, we cut into the top opening of the pumpkin to make it slightly wider.
If your votive is small enough to slip right in, then skip the cutting. If creating this look, be sure to use artificial LED votive candles like these and not real candles as the plastic will not withstand any heat. You can dot all around a festive Halloween table or fireplace with these fun little jack-o-lantern buckets. They are truly one of my favorite must-haves for Halloween decor ideas.
I hope you find easy inspiration with some of these quick last minute diy Halloween decorations that you can mix up to reflect your own style.
