If you’re looking for an easy sweet treat to put together and dress up with a little festive touch, I’ve got you covered.
I basically let the shortcut packaged box brownie mix be my hero here and used ready-made chocolate frosting which I dyed with dark black food coloring to give it a more intense, deep look.
If you have a go-to brownie recipe that you enjoy making from scratch, you can definitely just use that!
Adding a little black color to the frosting gives these a darker look and almost camouflages the little spiders from above giving it that spooky surprise.
The process for these could not get any easier! The most thought you’ll have to put into it is how you’re going to spookify this treat!! You can coat the Halloween spider bites with black and orange sprinkles..or even gold!
Purple bats or purple sprinkles would be fun too… You gotta have that defining element: spiders! Before we get to the simple but spooky touches, we have to make the brownies!
Mix and Bake Spooky Brownie Batter using easy brownie mix
For these super easy and spooky-licious spider bites, its a total no brainer. I prepare the box of brownie mix according to package directions (again, if you have a great go-to brownie recipe that you make really well from scratch, use that!) and bake! Let them cool for 10 or 15 minutes and then remove them from the pan so you can begin cutting them out.
If you need help removing baked brownies from your pan for cutting later on, use this easy parchment-lined pan method!
Make Bite-Size Cutouts to form spider bites!
I just used a round circle cutter. Simple and easy right?
Just press down on the cooled brownies and release! How many you get will depend on how closely together you make the cuttings and/or what size cutter you use.
This nifty inexpensive set of round cookie cutters has many uses and includes a 2 inch cutter, if you’re looking for an easy tool to do the job!
Now comes the spooky-licious part! You’ll want to take whichever frosting you choose to use and dye it black!
Dye The Frosting Black for your halloween brownies
I used a ready-made chocolate frosting from the grocery store that I dyed with a few drops of concentrated food coloring.
The black food coloring I used is richly pigmented so you really don’t have to add a lot to get the desired color.
Frost Halloween Brownie Spider Bites
I ended up with a lovely deep dark black-brown. Once you get the color down, frost the little round brownie bites. On some I frosted just the top and on others I frosted the top and all the way around the sides..almost like a tiny cake. How cute will these look decorating your festive spooky Halloween table at a fun party?!
Decorate Your Halloween Brownies With Spiders & Halloween Sprinkles
Now comes my favorite part! A most hauntingly fun festive halloween touch!
Grab some Halloween sprinkles in festive colors and sprinkle them all over your festive Halloween brownies! You can use purple or orange and black. You could even put a touch of gold sprinkles too!
Last but not least, add some little spider critters right on top! These are just the little plastic toy spider rings that you can get just about anywhere. They even come in mixed colors as well!
Grab one of the spiders and gently press the ring part into your frosted and sprinkled brownie bite. Now it’s a spider bite!
Serve these festive Halloween brownies at your Halloween party alongside some simple pumpkin spice donuts and wash it all down with an easy orange Halloween party drink!
Mix up this fun Hocus Pocus cocktail or this easy Witch’s Potion Margarita! Get intense with this deep dark Game of Thrones Halloween party cocktail, too! Sooo many hauntingly delicious options, so little time…
