Style an Easy DIY Pumpkin Wreath with Different Pumpkins
Decorating a diy fall pumpkin wreath is one of my favorite ways to start off early fall decor. For me, autumn is like the gateway that opens up the door to all the colors, smells, and tastes of the holidays that are closest to my heart.
A wreath is one of the first symbols that comes to mind (mostly because I find myself oddly attracted to circular shapes).

I think, however, that it is a more instinctual inclination to reach for a wreath because of the meaning behind the shape. For some, a circle might encapsulate the cyclical pattern of four main points throughout the year: winter, spring, summer, fall. Still for others, it may symbolize the idea of perpetuity or eternal life.
It is a shape that we can continue to re-imagine in different fashions and colors through decor as we represent seasons and celebrations.

Use Different Sized Pumpkins to add Character and Texture TO Your DIY Pumpkin Wreath
To make this diy pumpkin wreath, I’ll use three types of pumpkins to create a festive and beautiful wreath.
First, I use a larger oval wire pumpkin shape that serves as a fun focal point for the festive wreath.
Second, I’ll use a cute smaller pumpkin shape to match the larger gourd. These little orange pumpkins mounted on vines will be easy to tuck into the side of the wreath later on.
Lastly, I’ll include rustic twig pumpkins that I’ll nestle in between warm chocolate sunflowers in fall colors. I found these delicious-looking faux flowers at my local Hobby Lobby craft store.
While I was there, I grabbed lots of the other berries, pumpkins, and accent pieces that you’ll see throughout the post. I always go crazy in the seasonal fall aisles when I’m there. I can’t help it when every corner of the store just oozes the cozy look of fall!
There are little autumn treasures just waiting to be found at every turn… Okay, let’s get back on track here! The last of the fun little details on the wreath: why, fall leaves of course!
Add some fall foliage to your DIY Pumpkin Wreath
What’s autumn without a little touch of fall foliage? As more of an outside framing element, I’ll tuck in some pretty brown maple leaves. They’ll further add a touch of autumn woods to the wreath. These simple fall berry picks would make a gorgeous addition as well, if you want something a little different.
The rest is filled in with pretty pip and seed berry branches that go nicely with the color scheme of the fall pumpkin wreath. I recommend these pip berry branches in brown and orange. They are a must have for use in lots of different fall decorations and arrangements.
As you can see, most of these decorations come mounted on a vertical wire for easy attaching to our grapevine wreath. Here are some of the rest of the stems that make up the look of the wreath…
A touch of yellow adds a friendly, happy touch.
Heavier, bigger berries help to frame the pumpkins and gourds.
As you can see, I usually lean in the direction of seeds, branches, and decorations with neutral colors that help to create a natural look for the fall wreath.
Neutral colors like the ones in this spray of eucalyptus leaves help to create a rustic look for the wreath with a touch of elegance and color!
Pip branches and seed berries in fall colors are always a must!
A touch of fuzzy fox tail or pampas grass is always pretty too! It’s especially pretty in this festive autumn pampas grass bouquet! The look of dried flowers is always so rustic and pretty…
I’ve had so much fun putting this together! Celebrating fall through fun decor is just so close to my heart. Fun seasonal fall home decor projects like this are just a joy to craft up and bring to life! This fun pumpkin wreath has easily become one of my favorite fall wreaths to date.
Attach your bow to the bottom of the Fall wreath
When decorating diy wreaths like this one, I like to start off by attaching the bow first. For this wreath, we are drawing the eye down first, so I’ll attach the bow to the bottom of our grapevine wreath. If you need, this set of 2 grapevine wreaths comes in handy for fun decor projects like these.
To do this, I’ll layer a little sheer chocolate brown organza ribbon over burlap. This creates a rustic fall farmhouse look. I’ll secure the shaped ribbon with floral wire and twist it shut on the back side.
I’ll leave the extra length of twisted wire on the back of the bow to use for securing onto the wreath. If using a roll of floral wire, it’s a good idea to use a pair of wire cutters to snip the wire (leaving extra for attaching). This handy dandy floral wire kit is a favorite of mine for jobs like this.
Start by adding slender Skinny pieces first
To create the rest of this fun and rustic pumpkin wreath, I like to start by grabbing the smaller, skinny vines and flowers first. I like to call these the arms and legs of the wreath. They sorta get curled into the grapevine wreath form first.
They are the first elements that you’ll slip into the wreath as you start building up color and texture. Grab any thin berries and stems and slip those on first.
Layer Bigger Pieces on Your Pumpkin Wreath
Next, I like to bring in some of the larger elements and layer those over the thinner pieces to start building up more drama and character in the wreath. These elements might include fatter berries, fruits, bigger florals, and gourds. In our case, those would be the larger fall decorations like bigger pumpkin shapes and chocolate sunflowers.
Swipe Your Decorations In Glue If desired and position them in the Grapevine wreath form
Bend the wire at the bottom of your gourds, pumpkins, and flowers to give the decorations a little movement as you tuck them in. Adjust their position in the wreath as needed. Swipe the base of the stem through a hot glue pot or use a dab of glue from a hot glue gun to attach, as desired.
Just like that, (with a few decorative elements) we’ve easily explored how to make a pumpkin wreath with fall color in just a few steps. Keep these fun ideas handy when you’re in search of pumpkin wreath form ideas too! You can decorate these shapes using the same color scheme and textures we’ve used here.
