A fun but classy halloween style usually involves a taste of scare and spook mixed with elegant and dressy elements. This is what I did for this simple decorated halloween table runner! Gather some materials and check out the next few steps to create a spooky but elegant table!

Choose Decorative Accents that create a spooky table touch!

I put together a mix of spiders and pumpkins and skulls. You might use fresh small gourds, little pie pumpkins, bones, blackbirds…anything that is more your style!

I totally took on a spooky blackbird Halloween scene in this awesome Spooky Black Raven Halloween table.

For a little old-fashioned flare, I added fancier taper candle holders mixed with rustic textures from fabrics and some leafy branches.

Layer table runner fabrics for your halloween spooky table

This is quite rustic and simple. I took a nice burlap fabric table runner and placed that down the center as a base. You can create the same look with this nice burlap table runner that you can likely use for just about any occasion.

Top it with pumpkins or apples for a simpler fall table look like I did right here!

Next, you’ll want to layer your burlap fabric table runner with dark loosely woven fabric such as a black cheesecloth or gauze type material. I love to use a decorative Halloween material called “creepy cloth” which gives it that (you guess it…) creepy feel… EEK! Here is a link to the creepy cloth material which you can use in a variety of projects!

I love using this creepy cloth to display a spooky Halloween scene at my table, but you might choose to hang it from the edges of a mirror or across a mantle for a hunted house look!

Dress Up the spooky halloween table Runners With tapers and Candles

I took some pretty mercury glass taper candle holders and tied ribbons around them. They are one of my absolute favorite sets for setting an elegant, antique inspired table!

If you love creating an instant elegant vintage vibe, you can grab the taper set right here! I’ve used these pretty mercury glass tapers throughout many looks, including this cool blue summer table look!

These will dress up the tapered candles a bit and bring that elegant touch to the Halloween spooky table.

If you buy two sets, you’ll have multiple tapers that you can easily use to dot the entire table down the center. You can also mix the mercury glass tapers with different high and low pieces that really add character.

This cool textured set of six antique silver votives would add drama, texture, and contrast to the look!

Accent With Festive Halloween Spiders, Skulls & Other Halloween Decor

Right around the spot where you put the tapered candles, group small decorative details together. I placed skulls, little pumpkins and black spiders together sitting beneath each candle. The skulls are actually decorative styrofoam hanging skulls. I took the hooks off and used them as a table decoration. Alternatively, you can put real or decorative gourds all round and mix them in with the rest of the decor.

Add Branches, Flowers Or Leaves To Your Spooky Table

In the open space between the candles, lay down some flowers, leafy branches or dried fall florals. This brings natural color and freshness to the decoration and brings it to life. You might choose to incorporate different elements like eucalyptus branches, dried roses, artificial or real fall flowers (like chrysanthemums or fox tails).

Accent Spooky Table Decor With Warm Lighting

Accent everything you’ve done with lighting! This brings a lovely warm glow to the area and highlights all the colors, textures and details that line the space of the fabric.

The lighting also closes the eye in on the decoration you put together while creating a focal point and a talking point for people gathered at the table.
