This chilled cool blue Halloween drink is inspired by the Night King character from Game of Thrones.  The Night King is commander of the White Walkers, and he leads the Army of the Dead with a deep, icy blue gaze that commands the scene.  He will stop at nothing as he rides North through frozen lands, conquering all who stand between him and his desire for an endless night.

The scene where Bran Stark returns back to Winterfell after surviving the wilderness immediately comes to mind.  When asked what the Night King wants, he replies, “An endless night. He wants to erase this world, and I am its memory.”  It left a trail of goosebumps upon my skin…

As you can imagine, when I sought out to make a fun and festive blue Halloween cocktail, I definitely knew I was gonna draw some inspiration from this fearsome and frozen fantasy character!

This Cool Blue Halloween Drink is a Colorful Cocktail You Can Serve For Halloween Party Guests!

So, if you’re looking for festive and colorful blue Halloween drinks for your next Halloween party, then you’re in the right spot! This is the perfect Halloween drink recipe to serve up for guests at a costume party!  It’s a delicious Game of Thrones themed cocktail you can make with just a handful of main ingredients.

To get that true blue color inspired by the Night King’s cold icy gaze, we’ll use a splash of blue curaçao liqueur.  This helps to really turn up the volume on the color blue in this spooky cocktail when we mix it all together in the cocktail shaker.

In addition to giving us that coveted blue hue in a cocktail, splashes of bright blue curacao liqueur will also add delicious orange fruity flavor and citrus notes similar to what you might find in triple sec.

It pairs very easily with spirits like vodka, silver tequila (as you can see in this lovely blueish purple hue margarita) and white or light rum, like the kind we are using today in our spooky Halloween cocktail!  

Additionally, you will splash in a bit of apple cranberry juice, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, plus a little sparkling topper towards the end.

A Few Simple Ingredients For the Night King Blue Halloween Cocktail

• Light rum or white rum
• Apple cranberry juice
• Blue curaçao 
• Fresh squeezed lemon juice
• Simple syrup
• Prosecco – for topping off
• Cranberries for garnish
• Blue sanding sugar and coarse sea salt for cocktail rim
• Cocktail Ice 

Make The Night King’s Festive Blue Halloween Drink

To make this fun drink, begin by splashing a little light rum into your cocktail shaker.  Next, splash in some of the blue curaçao liqueur along with the apple cranberry juice.  Lastly, pour in the simple syrup plus the fresh-squeezed lemon juice to brighten everything up.

Combine Everything In A Cocktail Shaker 

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice about three-quarters of the way and cover.  Shake well until everything is completely chilled through and well combined.  Before you pour this delicious cocktail, swipe your serving glass with a wedge of fresh lemon and dip into a little blue sanding sugar.   

To make the rim look more frosty, I took one tablespoon of flaky coarse sea salt and mixed it with another tablespoon of blue sanding sugar.  Stir these together and then sprinkle it down on a flat plate.  Dip the rim of the glass into the sweet and salty blue sanding mixture.

Strain Cocktail and Top with Prosecco

Now place a piece of cocktail ice in your glass and strain the halloween rum cocktail over the ice.  Next, top the cocktail off with a light splash of crisp chilled prosecco.  A hint of sparkling wine adds a bit of fizz and makes the whole icy blue cocktail pop.

  To make the presentation more dramatic, I suggest using a glass with a little blue tint to it.  It looks elegant and dramatic at the same time.  Even something simple like these blue stemless wine glasses will add an elegant and bold touch to the cocktail.  If making a few for a party, these festive blue plastic wine goblets come in handy.  Making your cubes in an ice mold tray and freezing them in advance is a great way to keep this fun cocktail cold with less dilution. 

Garnish Your Festive Blue Halloween Cocktail and Serve Chilled

Garnish your festive blue Night King Halloween drink with a skewer of cranberries.  To give the cranberries a frosty and snowy look, I dipped them in a little simple syrup and then rolled them around in a little plain white sugar.  

You can do this with a bowl of cranberries in advance (or even the night before) and then let them sit on a flat surface (plate or tray) to air dry at room temperature.  It helps the coating set.  This is close to the garnish I created to give these Christmas margaritas a snowy holiday look!  

To keep a frozen rustic woods look, use rosemary stems as your cocktail skewers.  You may want to poke all the way through the cranberries with a wooden skewer first so that the rosemary stems can slip in more easily
