In this easy and refreshing green margarita recipe, splashes of delicious honeycrisp apple juice, Irish whiskey, and silver tequila swirl together to make a festive Irish margarita just in time to celebrate St. Patrick’s day!
Taking cues from the beloved classic margarita, I made sure to preserve two elements that I just couldn’t do without: fresh lime juice and silver tequila. These make the margarita what it truly is! A refreshing and delicious limey cocktail that tastes as good as it looks.
A Festive Irish Margarita with Fresh Lime and Apple Flavor
To give the cocktail that festive Irish twist, we also add Irish whiskey! You can use your favorite Irish whiskey. I usually go with Jameson Irish whiskey. Splashes of colorful liqueurs, fresh lime, and honeycrisp apple juice make up the rest of this fun green drink.
In order to achieve that stunning vibrant green color, I use a combination of liquids I can shake up together in the cocktail shaker to create a great green cocktail for St. Patrick’s day.

Make A Festive Irish Margarita
Start by dipping your glasses in a mixture of green sanding sugar and coarse sea salt. Rub the rim of the margarita glasses with a lime wedge and dip in the sea salt mixture. Set aside.
Splash Ingredients Into A Cocktail Shaker
In a cocktail shaker, splash in about an ounce of Irish whiskey (such as Jameson’s Irish whiskey) and an ounce of your favorite good quality silver tequila. I used Espolón silver tequila.
Add Blue Curaçao and Green Apple Liqueur
Next, splash in green apple liqueur and along with a little blue curaçao. The mixture of these liqueurs, in addition to making up a delicious drink, also help to build up that gorgeous kelly green color we love to see for St. Patty’s day.
Lastly, we’ll go ahead and splash in some fresh lime juice, a dash of simple syrup, and the honeycrisp apple juice. I used unfiltered honeycrisp apple juice. It makes a delicious cocktail and a great mixer that you can reuse in a variety of different drinks, like say for example, this fun fireball cider recipe!
I think that whiskey tastes so delicious with apple flavor… They are like two peas in a pod when combined. You can see how bourbon whiskey and apple juice make a great cocktail in this simple juicy apple bourbon fall cocktail. So yea, when you’ve got whiskey, keep a little apple juice handy! They make a delicious mix in a variety of ways!
Cover and Shake Your Irish Margarita Cocktail
To finish this lucky St. Patrick’s day Irish margarita, fill your cocktail shaker about halfway with fresh ice cubes and put on the lid. Shake vigorously until the tequila, whiskey, liqueurs, lime juice, simple syrup, and apple juice are fully chilled and combined.
Pour the entire mixture into your salty rimmed margarita glass. Finish by garnishing with fresh lime wheels and festive green paper straws.
