style easy DIY tropical flower arrangements from the garden
To create an easy diy flower arrangement using simple fresh-cut garden flowers, I like to grab a series of vessels to create small flower arrangements. For this look, I love the idea of dark amber glass bottles. These brown glass bottles make the perfect set, if you’d like to create the same stylish look!
The dark color resembles glass medicine bottles that create a cool vintage vibe with lots of character.
You might choose to use old empty glass medicine bottles, empty wine bottles, apothecary jars, flower bud vases, or even brown glass beer bottles for your flower arrangements. This is what I did for a fun diy farmhouse-style fall flower arrangement.
how to arrange simple tropical flowers in a vase
There really is no exact formula for this. You can pretty much go with the flow adding and trimming flowers where you see fit. Just focus on color, accents, height, and placement. The different leaves will kinda tell you where they’d like to sit as you go…
>> Gather some tropical Foliage to add greenery
I used the tall fronds of wild fern leaves, the rounded shape of ribbed hosta leaves, and palm leaves to create a quick breezy tropical look. You might choose to add banana leaf or the ever popular monstera plant leaf.
>> add flowers in varying heights
I added some of the simple bright pink flower spikes from coral bells and the purple bloom of hosta flowers. In a slightly different arrangement I added colorful drama and height with fresh-cut gladiolus from the garden (pictured above). You might choose to add hibiscus flowers, bright orange lily flowers, or birds of paradise!
>> Start with the tallest piece and accent with tropical green foliage all around
To create your own easy diy flower arrangements, start with the longest piece first or the main flowers you’ll use as the focal point in your small bottles or bud vases. If creating multiple arrangements, repeat the process and duplicate the small flower arrangement.
Once you’ve added this to the vase, continue adding the other accent pieces that will complement the tropical flower(s).
You can cut the leafy greenery in varying heights to add contrast, texture, and drama.
Pictured above is a simple diy tropical flower arrangement with red gladiolus, palm leaf, hosta leaf, fern fronds, dark purple coral bell leaf, and calathea leaf.
Using a variety of different variegated leaves and ribbed leaves adds beauty and excitement to the flower arrangement when including tropical foliage and greenery.
