I like to use a wide Amerian flag print ribbon on burlap by Tommy Bahama for a colorful yet rustic touch. You can use any patriotic ribbon you like! I also used a grapevine wreath as my base, but you could use a foam wreath, if desired.
What You’ll Need To make an easy 4th of July Wreath:
To make this fun and summery Memorial Day wreath or 4th of July wreath, you need to gather the following:
- A grapevine wreath, a foam wreath, or a wreath of rounded shape made from your favorite material
- Patriotic ribbon or festive American flag print ribbon – (Use burlap printed ribbon for a charming rustic look!)
- Dried flowers or artificial flowers in red white or blue. Choose your favorite look! I like using dried flowers in red colors
- A hot glue gun to glue the end of the wrapped ribbon for sealing
How To Make An Easy Red, White, and Blue Wreath
Begin by placing the cut side of your festive burlap ribbon on the wreath. Keep wrapping the ribbon all around the rounded frame of your wreath.
Loop the ribbon all around your 4th of July Wreath
Continue to loop the ribbon all the way around the wreath until the entire 4th of July wreath is covered with the flag print ribbon all around.
Add Dried Flowers To your Fourth of July Wreath
When your wreath is fully covered, leave an open space at the top to tuck in the dried flowers or artificial flowers. This will add a quick and rustic floral accent.
Finish Sealing The Ribbon On Your 4th of July Wreath
Now cut your ribbon if you have not already. Use the last end piece of the ribbon to seal the space where we added the dry flowers. Use a hot glue gun to glue the ribbon to the back of the wreath so it stays in place.
Tuck in the sides of the ribbon or tighten the ribbon all around the wreath for a clean snug look.
Grab Some Sheer Soft Ribbon To Create a Handle For Hanging
Now grab a piece of plain ribbon in red, white, blue, or plain burlap and measure out the length you would need to hang the wreath and tie a bow. This will serve as a way to hang your wreath easily from a door hook.
I find that using a thin sheer chiffon ribbon or organza style ribbon works best for this job. It will hold the wreath up nicely without competing with the flag ribbon. It also ties very easily into a lovely bow for hanging.
