The outer body of the tree is trimmed with cascading ribbons in warm natural tones. A bit of burlap and copper colored ribbon adds character and detail to the shape of the Christmas tree.
Finish it all off with a rustic woodland theme tree topper complete with snowy winter branches and golden berries.

This handful of simple tips will help you add the rustic and warm look of winter wonderland decor to the living room with just a few items. You can style these easy winter wonderland Christmas tree ideas whether you are using an artificial tree or a fresh tree.
In this post, I’ll use a simple artificial pre-lit tree. I have used our own tree which is a 7.5 ft pre-lit Christmas tree from the Home Depot Home Accents Holiday collection. It’s very easy to set up and comes with delicate wired-in led fairy lights throughout.
A Pre-Lit Tree with Lighting Options Keeps Things Easy
It has pre-lit color changing lights and comes with a nifty little remote control that changes the lights from warm gold to multi-color or rainbow lights. This pre-lit Christmas tree comes with 1,200 color-changing micro dot LED lights and has 9 different light functions all available with the push of a button.
It must say it has been an absolute dream and a breeze to set up. It’s so easy to put up, my 5 year old and 11 year old do that part for me. All I have to do is relish in the decorating process as I put my own unique style on each little touch.
This is the joy of holiday decor and it just doesn’t really feel like Christmas time without a tall, gorgeous, warm woodsy tree commanding your attention from the corner of the room. You’ll enjoy the view as you slip under a warm blanket and sip your favorite cup of hot cocoa.
Use Pinecones and Branches to Create Natural Looking Decor
The branches on the artificial tree I use basically resemble your typical bushy-branched fir tree and make the perfect backdrop for small or heavy ornaments alike.
For this rustic woodland themed Christmas tree we’ll just be using decorative accents like berries, pine cones, and added branches all inspired by natural elements and things found in nature.
To me, this nature-inspired decor makes the perfect Christmas tree, but, if you’d like to take it a step further and embellish more, you can add gold ornaments, rose gold Christmas tree ornaments, or copper-colored ornaments.
This natural winter woods look is truly one of my favorite things when it comes to decorating for the holiday season. It’s my favorite style out of all the Christmas tree themes and I love trying to mimic it, add to it, and enhance its look with each coming year. I always reflect on what I did the last year and try to improve it the following year.
Use Picks with Snowy Branches To Create the Look of a Flocked Tree
To create the look of a flocked tree, I simply add picks of snowy branches and pinecones that have been flocked. I’ll tuck them in throughout the tree. You can see I used a big snowy pick with pinecones and branches at the very top of the tree. I went ahead and used this in my tree topper. The tree topper decorations create height and drama at the top center of my tree.
I also added more accents all around with smaller branches and thinner twigs. I added snowy gold berries (to emphasize that woodland Christmas tree look).
Before I added any decorations, I attached the ribbons to the tree first. I’ll start by layering copper ribbon over a spool of wide burlap ribbon. Even this variety of plaid copper ribbon with wire edges is a beautiful choice. Choose copper ribbon with a bit of a pattern. It offers some richer contrast to the burlap beneath when you layer them and add to the tree.
Use These winter wonderland christmas tree ideas to Decorate an Artificial Tree or a Real Tree
Again, this is a very rustic and simple winter woods themed tree decor that you can incorporate. You can easily do it even if you are decorating a real tree. This type of decor is easy to achieve since it only builds upon and enhances the look of a natural Christmas tree. So don’t be afraid to dig in, and try this nature-inspired Christmas winter wonderland theme.
This year, I plan to take the winter wonderland Christmas theme a step further by adding decorative accents that complement the style throughout my living room. I’m hoping to get my hands on some snowy flocked pine garland. I was thinking I could embellish it with some of the Christmas decorations and accents I used to decorate my Christmas tree in warm copper and gold. This warm color scheme instantly adds the feel of warmth and cozy times to whole living space.
As you can see, you don’t need a fully flocked white Christmas tree. You can achieve the look of a snowy winter woodland with a bit of decor. Â Just embellish everything with small touches like branches and picks lined with faux snow. It really helps to bring that look to life in any green tree. Â It’s an easy way to add that snowy white look to any Christmas tree in minutes.
I’d like to hang and connect the flocked pine garland pieces that I mentioned earlier along back wall of my living room (above the windows). Â That’s and easy way to complement the tree and bring this gorgeous look of snow and pine full circle! Â I think it’s a great idea and I’ll keep you guys posted on how this look unfolds!
Finish with a Tree Collar of a Fur Tree Skirt
To finish the bottom of the tree I use a galvanized metal tree collar. If you prefer a softer cozier look, you might opt of a faux fur tree skirt. If adding your own string lights, opt for warm gold lights or warm white lights.  This really adds a little sparkle and a soft warm glow to our beautiful winter wonderland tree. Â
The end result will be a lovely rustic winter woods Christmas tree. It’ll have very warm natural organic style and a very cozy look. Don’t forget the coffee table either! Try any of these simple diy Christmas coffee table decorations to keep the woodsy vibes coming throughout the house!
